What is different about HeatPro

Most pool heat pumps use a tube and fin coil. HeatPro uses a microchannel coil, which Hayward lists with

  • 85% fewer braze joints, so fewer places for a leak to start
  • up to 50 pounds less weight
  • less refrigerant
  • a corrosion resistant coil coating

HeatPro units are built in Nashville, Tennessee, and are AHRI certified.

The HP21105T, HP21205T and HP21405T heat the pool to stretch the swim season through winter.

The HP31105T, HP31205T and HP31405T also cool it in summer, with 72,000 to 82,000 BTU of cooling.

All six use a single-speed compressor. For a heat pump that slows down to hold temperature, compare the AquaCal TropiCal.

Electrical, pad and control

The 110,000 and 120,000 BTU models use a 40 amp breaker and the largest model in each line a 50 amp breaker. All six share one cabinet, 33.6 x 30.5 x 44 inches, with a flow range of 30 to 75 gallons per minute.

Paired with Hayward’s Omni automation you can set the temperature from your phone. See pool and spa automation.

Ratings in the table read air, water and humidity, so 50/80/63 means 50°F air, 80°F water and 63% humidity.

Is the Hayward HeatPro an inverter heat pump?

No. All six HeatPro models use a single-speed compressor. For an inverter, compare the AquaCal TropiCal.

Can a HeatPro cool my pool?

The three Heat+Chill models can, and Hayward says they can chill water down to 40°F. The heat only models do not cool.

What size breaker does a HeatPro need?

A 40 amp breaker for the 110,000 and 120,000 BTU models and a 50 amp breaker for the HP21405T and HP31405T.
